Learn sources for finding appropriate fabric, trims and linings for your jacket project. Free on Zoom to all, time to be determined. Join my email list for information on time specifics. 

Week 1: Learn how to measure yourself and make pattern adjustments for the Vogue V8991 Sewing pattern. We will cut a toile, or sample garment for fitting. Final pattern adjustments will be made.

Week 2: Cut out jacket bodice. Learn couture marking and basting techniques. Hand baste jacket together, evaluate final fit. 

Week 3: Ease bodice, sew darts and bodice seams. Learn proper pressing techniques and tools used in couture sewing. Hand baste lining together.

Week 4: Tailor baste lining and bodice together for quilting. Quilt by hand. Sew pockets with couture techniques, apply to garment. Discuss trim options.

Week 5: Sew trim on jacket. Cut sleeves, learn how to ease sleeves into armhole, finish sleeve placket with couture methods, hand make buttonholes with tailoring techniques. This jacket has a unique curved sleeve placket with beautiful trim and button details.

Week 6: Construct collar, apply collar and trim to garment. Learn how to steam the collar into shape, shape the neck trim the couture way, sew collar and trim to jacket by hand. Hand sew any additional buttonholes, sew on buttons and trim. 

Not all sewing work will be finished during class time. Couture sewing is very time intensive, it may take you several months to complete this project. Videos will be available for 1 year after class. 

Students will be required to send in photos of their finished work for evaluation and to be shared with the group for learning purposes. A certificate of completion will be given to each student that completes the class in its entirety.
